Who is Chuck Morse?

Chuck Morse, a Republican party candidate, is in a close contest with primary rival Donald Bolduc. The two are competing for New Hampshire’s GOP nomination for the Senate.
He is currently serving as a member of the New Hampshire State Senate, representing District 22 and his tenure ends on December 7, 2022.
Who is Chuck Morse?
Chuck Morse was born in 1960 in Salem. He had spent his childhood in poverty as his father was disabled and his mother worked in a local farm to sustain their living.
He started a lawn care business as a teenager and later received his bachelor’s degree from Plymouth State University.
After graduating, Chuck joined as a management trainee at K-Mart and worked for three years and he became one of the youngest full-time employees.
In 1988, he and his wife Susan started Freshwater Farms in Atkinson. Initially, the farms had three acres of land but as their business grew the farm now employs over 50 people and has 13 acres of land.

Chuck Morse’s Political Career
Chuck Morse started his political career as a State Representative of Salem from 1998 to 2002. He was further elected to the State Senate in 2002 and was appointed to the Finance Committee.
Morse ran for the elections of the Executive Council of New Hampshire in 2006 but lost to state Senator Beverly Hollingworth.
In 2010, he served in the Hampshire Senate representing the 22nd district and was further chosen as the President of the Senate, succeeding Peter Bragdon, in 2013.
In 2017, Chuck Morse served as acting governor of New Hampshire when Maggie Hassan resigned as governor to join the United States Senate on January 3, 2017. Morse was re-elected to the Senate seat in 2018 and 2020.

As a state senator, Morse has opposed broad-based state sales, and income tax and has aimed at reducing property taxes, and other state taxes. Morse has also highlighted border security as an issue of concern and he is of the view that the current U.S. policy related to border security is responsible for the presence of drug trade in the state.
