Neymar Jr is eager to stay on at the Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain, telling OhMyGoal, “It’s very true on my side that I want to stay at Paris Saint Germain. Afterwards, no one said anything to me”.

The Brazilian forward continued, “On my side it’s clear that I want to stay here at PSG”.

The French club’s attacking lineup is enviable with Neymar, Argentine magician Lionel Messi, and French youngster Kylian Mbappe. However, with the recent transfer saga surrounding the 23-year-old French forward, many players’ future in the club remains doubtful.

To keep Mbappe from moving to Real Madrid, a decision that has led to its own set of consequences, PSG had to enact a number of changes. The current sporting director, Leonardo, is slated to depart, and coach Mauricio Pochettino’s tenure is unsure as well.

The former Barcelona player’s contract runs till 2025, but with Mbappe taking on a larger role at the French club, Neymar could be let go. L’Equipe reported, “His status has been compromised by his recurring injuries and his questionable lifestyle”, adding, “Neymar’s decline in sporting terms has not escaped the eyes of many people at the club, least of all those of Kylian Mbappe.”

However, Neymar’s entourage has dismissed any news of selling the playmaker. They said, “No one contacted us to tell us that Neymar was on the market, last year they pressured us to renew and we renewed”.

If Neymar were to exit the Parc des Princes team, he could have trouble finding a new home. Reportedly, top-flight clubs like Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City aren’t interested in him, while the 30-year-old is still too young to consider Major League Soccer (MLS) as an option.

However, a return to the Catalan side might be on the cards, with Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently saying in an interview with L’Esportiu, “Who doesn’t like Neymar? He is an exceptional player”.
