Prashant Kishor, who was recently in the headlines for a failed attempt to join forces with the Congress, hinted at his future ambitions on Monday when he took to Twitter to reveal his path for completing 10 years of helping “shape pro-people policy.”

“My quest to be a meaningful participant in democracy & help shape pro-people policy led to a 10yr rollercoaster ride! As I turn the page, time to go to the Real Masters, THE PEOPLE,to better understand the issues & the path to “जन सुराज”-Peoples Good Governance शुरुआत #बिहार से,” Kishor tweeted that he has decided to end his sabbatical.

He had declared he will “quit the space” after propelling West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to a stunning victory last year, as he had anticipated.

Kishor’s cryptic remark has sparked speculation that he may begin a political campaign. The strategist, who is in Patna for two days of discussions with like-minded parties and leaders, had previously started a project dubbed ‘Baat Bihar Ki’ to measure the mood of the state.

The announcement comes only days after Kishor resigned from the Congress, emphasising, above all, the need for leadership and collaborative resolve to confront the party’s deep-rooted structural difficulties through transformational reforms. Kishor had hoped for a free hand to revitalise the Grand Old Party, but other officials were wary of him and his ties to other political organisations.

In Bihar, Kishor worked with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the 2015 assembly elections before being recruited three years later by the CM, who was also the party’s president at the time, into the JD(U). The data analyst moved fast through the ranks of the JD(U), eventually attaining the position of national vice president. His clients include the who’s who of Indian politics.

Kishor’s antagonistic position on the CAA-NPR-NRC affair, on the other hand, infuriated the BJP, the JD’s alliance partner (U). The JD(U) ended up voting in favour of the citizenship reform bill in Parliament, only to be corrected by Kumar, who had a resolution passed in the state assembly against the proposed National Register for Citizens.

While Kumar attempted to downplay Kishor, the election strategist accused Kumar of lying and was fired less than 24 hours later. He was then hired by the Trinamool Congress as a poll strategist and was expected to play a key role in the party’s historic victory in the 2021 West Bengal assembly elections.
