Even if you’re not a Twilight fan, you’re probably familiar with the popular series. When Stephenie Meyer’s first novel in the series was released in 2005, the skies parted, the birdies sang, and everybody longed to be bitten by Robert Pattinson. While Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart became household names for their roles as the oddly-paired lovers, the Twilight films included a slew of other celebrities. It’s time to travel back to the late 2000s for a look at some of the franchise’s lesser-known characters.

Granted, the series was a little distracting since, well, hello? A cranky, hot vampire falls in love with an “ordinary” female, who then have a half-human child, and live happily ever after? We humbly approve!  Add in the elements of mythology and superpowers, as well as a few love triangles, and you’ve got yourself a legendary franchise (which is now streaming on Netflix, BTW).

Despite the fact that Edward and Bella (and, of course, Jacob, played by Taylor Lautner) were the primary protagonists of the movie, there were a slew of supporting characters (and vampires) that helped push the plot along. Here’s a list of celebrities you probably didn’t realise were in the movies.

Anna Kendrick

You’re not alone if you don’t recall Anna Kendrick from Twilight. She herself forgot she portrayed the part of Jessica, Bella’s frenemy at school, who ended up giving their class’s graduation speech onscreen. She featured in the first four films, with the exception of the last instalment, which she did not appear in.

Rami Malek

Rami Malek portrayed a talented Egyptian vampire named Benjamin in Breaking Dawn: Part 2 before joining Amazon’s Mr. Robot and winning the 2019 Academy Award for Best Actor for his work in Bohemian Rhapsody. During the last Volturi battle, his character aided Bella and Edward.

Angela Sarafyan

Angela Sarafyan appeared as Tia, Benjamin (Malek’s) partner, prior to portraying Clementine Pennyfeather in Westworld. She, like Benjamin, belonged to the Egyptian coven.

Dakota Fanning

Dakota Fanning’s performance as Jane, a member of the Volturi, the organisation that controlled the rest of the vampires and had it out for the Cullens, was among the first times she portrayed an “evil” role in the Twilight series.

Cam Gigandet

In the first Twilight film, The OC and Easy A actor Cam Gigandet played the evil, nomadic vampire. He’s the vampire that attempted to murder Bella at the ballet studio. Victoria, Edward’s mate, made it her goal to murder Bella after Edward killed him.
