At the intersection of politics, personal life and entertainment, Claudia Conway, a 16-year-old girl who has a knack for music and an aspiration for competing in the singing reality show American Idol, was conferred about her parents, who were working as high-ranking government professionals when Donald Trump held the position of the US President. 

Claudia, who came to audition for a place among the contestants in American Idol, said that her mother worked as a senior counselor of former US President Donald Trump while her father was an attorney who worked against him.

The highly celebrated American musician Katy Perry, who is a judge in the reality show, showed interest in Claudia’s life at home and asked about the kind of relationship she shared with her mother. 

“With your mom being the figure that she is,” she asked, “does she still hug you?” 

Claudia said she does. 

Claudia said before auditioning, “She loves me, I love her,” and defined their relationship as “a little iffy”. She then talked about her journey of empowering herself with the tool of social media which got her through with the phase of keeping her feelings suppressed.

The 16-year-old began her audition with “Love on the Brain” being her primary choice. This however was soon interrupted by Katy Perry, who then requested an alternative. Claudia continued her performance with Adele’s “When We Were Young”. 

Lionel Richie and Katy Perry gave the two required votes to Claudia and ensured her participation in the next stages of the reality show.
