The 2021 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards ceremony is scheduled to be held this Sunday. This time, BAFTA’s list of nominees is quite diverse. 16 of the 24 acting nominees are from ethnic minority groups.
Indian actor Adarsh Gourav is nominated in the leading actor category for ‘The White Tiger’. The movie, directed by American filmmaker Ramin Bahrani, is also nominated in the adapted screenplay category.

Adarsh played the role of Balram in ‘The White Tiger’. The movie is an adaptation of Aravind Adiga’s 2008 award-winning novel of the same name. The critically acclaimed film also stars actors Rajkummar Rao and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Priyanka is also the executive producer of the film.
After the BAFTA nominations were announced last month, Priyanka took to Instagram to congratulate the two BAFTA nominees.

The fictional movie is a story of a driver in India who rises to become a successful businessman despite the stratified caste system. The film has also received a nomination in the best ‘Adapted Screenplay’ category in Academy Awards 2021.
