Blackpink‘s Rose could become the first female K-pop star to attend the Met Gala in New York. Before her, the only other K-pop star to attend the Met Gala was EXO’s Lay in 2019. Rumours started flying after she was spotted at the John F Kennedy international airport in New York. The rumours started solidifying after she was clicked leaving Yves Saint Laurent on September 12.
While it could be a historic event, the audience is wary, keeping in mind MTV‘s blunder post saying that Blackpink’s Lisa was performing at the 2021 Video Music Awards, which she wasn’t.
Other than the 2021 VMAs, the only high-end fashion event happening in New York is the Met Gala 2021.
With the event drawing near, more paparazzi spotted Rose in the city with fans believing that she, in fact, will be attending the Met Gala.
The theme for this year’s Met Gala is: ‘In America: A Lexicon of Fashion’ as American fashion is currently going through a renaissance period that has changed the industry’s outlook.
The Met Gala will be hosted by Amanda Gorman, Timothée Chalamet, Naomi Osaka and Billie Eilish. The co-chairs are Anna Wintour, Adam Mossari and Tom Ford.
Here’s how you can watch the Met Gala 2021
This is the first time that the Met Gala will officially be live-streamed by Vogue. The live stream will be hosted by Keke Palmer and Ilana Glazer at 5:30 pm EST on September 13. You can watch it on Vogue’s website or Twitter.
Met Gala is considered to be one of the most glamorous nights in New York. It is on this night that celebrities come together to host a charity gala for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
