Elise Finch, a well-known CBS meteorologist, died over the weekend. Her WCBS coworkers paid tribute to the “gifted and consummate professional” in a sorrowful on-air piece that announced the popular TV host’s death.
Finch passed away at a nearby hospital, according to her employer, New York affiliate CBS station WCBS, which made the announcement on Sunday evening. Finch began providing the weather forecast on Channel 2 across the Big Apple in 2007. She was 51 years old at the time of death. The reason of her death is yet to be revealed.

Finch, real name Elise Dione Finch Henriques, began her career as a weekend meteorologist and most recently gave the morning news weather forecasts.
She was also “fiercely loving and devoted” to her husband, WCBS photojournalist Graig Henriques, and daughter Grace, the station said.
Finch was born in Mount Vernon, New York, in the United States. She was the child of Charlette Finch, her mother, and James Finch Jr, her father. Finch was raised with her only sibling, Kiya, who graduated from LIU Brooklyn in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree.

As a meteorologist and journalist for CBS2 New York, Finch reportedly earned a yearly salary between $87,279 and $154,320. Finch’s net worth was reportedly between $300,000 and $800,000. Her successful work as a journalist and meteorologist served as her primary source of income.
“Elise was a gifted and consummate professional who took great care with her work,” the television station wrote in a statement announcing her death. “She was also a wonderful ambassador in the community, including her hometown of Mount Vernon.”
