Retweeting singer Diljit Dosanjh’s post on Sunday, actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas shared her take on the farmers’ protest against Centre’s new agricultural laws and hoped for the “crisis” to be resolved soon.

“Our farmers are India’s Food Soldiers. Their fears need to be allayed. Their hopes need to be met. As a thriving democracy, we must ensure that this crises is resolved sooner than later,” Jonas wrote on Twitter.

Notably, she is not the first one from the film fraternity to publicly take a stand like this. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja also dedicated a post for farmers on Instagram.

“When tillage begins, other arts follow. The farmers, therefore, are the founders of human civilization,” she quoted American lawyer Daniel Webster.

Her husband Anand Ahuja also shared a post on Instagram talking about the new farm laws and their effects on the farmers.

After the fifth round of talks between farmer leaders and the central government on Saturday, the next round of discussions will be held on December 9, on the request of all stakeholders.

Farmers from Haryana and Punjab are protesting at the Singhu border of Delhi against the farm laws, namely the Farmer’s Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020, which were passed in September during the Monsoon Session.
