United States President Joe Biden, in an address from Scotland’s Glasgow, predicted the outcome of the ongoing elections in Virginia, which will decide who will take the Governor’s office. “We are going to win”, he said while adding that it “could be a tight race.”
Biden further attempted to dismiss the impact of his presidency on the outcome of the election while cryptically addressing his recent failed attempt to pass a safety net bill valued at $1.75 trillion.
“We all knew from the beginning this could be a tight race”, Biden said at the press conference on Tuesday, according to reports from USA Today.
He added, “Even if we had passed my agenda, I would not claim we won because Biden’s agenda’s passed. I think it’s going to be very close. I think it’s going to get down to, as you all know, turnout.”
The electoral clash — between Democrat Terry McAuliffe and Republican Glen Youngkin– is around its conclusion as polls are set to close in Virginia on Tuesday evening.
Biden was previously scheduled to rally alongside McAuliffe, who has previously been the Governor of Virginia. Weeks before the election, United States Vice President Kamala Harris, who is considered to be a close ally of the Democratic candidate, also campaigned for him.
The Virginia politician wrote on Twitter, “Thank you Vice President @KamalaHarris!! Honored to have you back in Virginia tonight. 12 days until we keep Virginia BLUE.”
On the other hand, former United States President Donald Trump played his small yet significant part in the ongoing gubernatorial elections in Virginia and projected support for Republican candidate Glen Youngkin.
In a statement posted by Taylor Budowich– a spokesperson for the former President– on Twitter, Trump said, “Get out and vote for a man who will be a great governor, Glenn Youngkin!”
