Kanye West, also known as Ye, has been named as a suspect in a battery investigation, TMZ reported. The rapper, as per the entertainment website, was involved in a heated exchange with a photographer and ended up throwing the woman’s phone. Ventura County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the scene around 4:30 PM and were provided video evidence of the incident.

In the video, a visibly upset Ye can be seen accusing the woman of following him. “You’re a celebrity!” the woman says before the rapper grabs her phone and throws it into the street. He then walks back to his SUV and hops into it. His wife, Bianca Censori, was reportedly waiting for him in the car as the scene unfolded.

The incident comes exactly a year after the rapper was named as a suspect in a battery report taken by the Los Angeles police department. The 45-year-old reportedly punched a fan who asked for an autograph just outside the Soho Warehouse, a members-only club, in Los Angeles. It was investigated as a misdemeanor battery.

Meanwhile, the recent incident comes a day after Kanye West and his wife were spotted shopping at a Balenciaga store in California, despite being dropped by the brand for his antisemitic remarks. The duo was spotted at the store with multiple bags filled with apparel.

For those unversed, the French fashion house cut ties with him following his antisemitic rants.

“Balenciaga has no longer any relationship nor any plans for future projects related to this artist,” parent company Kering said in a statement.
