Koffee with Karan has been in the headlines for many reasons ever since it made a comeback. The list goes on and on—sometimes it’s about Sara Ali Khan claiming that her ex is everyone’s ex, sometimes it’s about Ranveer Singh’s sex playlist, but this time the show has been making the rounds on the internet due to plagiarism allegations.

The show has garnered a lot of hype since its release but it has soon made a plagiarism controversy which became a problem.

Journalist-writer Manya Lohit Ahuja alleged on social media that the second episode, which starred Janhvi Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, had borrowed ideas from her for a brand-new “guessing game” segment on the show. Based on the vague plot description, both actresses had to identify the titles of the movies.

Karan asks them of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, “a grown man who can’t tie his shoelaces ends up accidentally revealing his hidden identity to his former nanny.” The writer-journalist said that the aforesaid statements were taken exactly directly from her 2020 article, which she wrote for iDiva official. A similar question was asked in the article, which had the title “Calling all Bollywood Buffs: Guess the movie with the help of these badly explained plots”.

The Journalist-writer took it to Twitter and wrote, “So #KoffeeWithKaran lifted the IP I started at @iDivaOfficial and used the whole copy verbatim??? I came up with this concept and I had a lot of fun writing these but to not be credited just because it was frivolous is not acceptable!? If you lift the copy, give the credit.”

She even posted on Instagram saying, “I have decided that I cannot let this go. I want credit for my work— it may not be world-changing work, but it is mine nonetheless.”

Karan Johar, Disney+ Hotstar, and the creative writer Shreemi Verma were all tagged in the post. They still haven’t commented on the plagiarism allegations.

The new episode of the show will be released this Thursday.  Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Akshay Kumar, Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff, Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Ananya Panday, Vijay Deverakonda, Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan will be seen as guests on the show. Sidharth Malhotra, Vicky Kaushal, Gauri Khan, Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Maheep Kapoor, and Bhavana Pandey will also be making an appearance on the show.
