A fashion disaster is one thing and then flaunting an open mesh mask at a public event amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is one fashion statement that is best to be given a miss.

Yet, on Friday, singer Lana Del Rey showed up at The Grove in Los Angeles for a public signing and reading of her new poetry book, ‘Violet Bent Backwards Over the Grass’, wearing a sparkly mesh mask that defeated the purpose of wearing one at all.

At this point, it is best to reiterate that paper and fabric face coverings have been proven to slow the spread of COVID-19, however, open mesh masks like Lana’s provide no protection against the life-threatening virus.

Fans took to social media to remind the artist of the same. “I love you sis but please wear a real mask, it gives a bad message,” commented one user.

Another caring user urged her, “Love you love you love you so much but please wear a mask under that one, take care.”

However, some fans weren’t as kind.

Targeting her disastrous mask, one user took a dig at the 35-year-old singer-songwriter by incorporating the title of her album ‘Born to Die’.

Another fan comment on her Instagram post, “might as well wear nothing.”

According to The Independent, Lana’s sister, Caroline Grant, defending her action on social media, stated that the musician had “tested negative” before attending the event, which in no shape or form is a logical explanation to the half-witted action.

The singer is yet to come to with a statement of her own, however, it’s preferred if she rather than putting out any half-baked explanation, wears a real mask from the next time.

Coronavirus has plagued the entire mankind and it’s bound to punish people who avoid wearing masks or even suggest the same.
