Actor Lee Sun-kyun, known for his role in the Oscar-winning film “Parasite,” was discovered dead in an apparent suicide on Wednesday while under investigation for suspected drug use.

At 10:30 a.m., a man in his 40s was found unconscious in a car at a central Seoul park, later identified as Lee Sun-kyun. A charcoal briquette was found in the passenger seat. The police had received a report that Lee had left home after leaving behind a memo resembling a suicide note.

Lee had undergone three rounds of police questioning regarding suspicions of using marijuana and other illegal drugs. These allegations stemmed from incidents at the residence of a hostess working at a high-end bar in Seoul’s Gangnam district, occurring multiple times since early this year, including last Saturday.
