Taylor Swift is scheduled to perform at Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium on Friday (June 23) and Saturday (June 24), and the state’s Governor Tim Walz issued a proclamation declaring those two days “Taylor Swift Days.”

“Taylor Swift has enchanted and inspired Minnesotans and people all over the world,” Walz wrote in the Swift pun-filled official document that he tweeted out on Friday. “Taylor Swift will forever & always be a positive influence, setting an example with her truthfulness, grace, and strength of character.”
The announcement comes only one day after Minneapolis was dubbed “Swiftie-apolis” in honour of Swift’s two sold-out gigs. “We are embarking on what will be one of the most exciting weekends in the history of the city of Minneapolis,” stated Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey at a press conference on Wednesday (June 21). “With Pride and Taylor Swift, we’re expecting over 500,000 people… it’s beyond our wildest dreams.”
The friendly competition between cities to outdo one other in Swift-themed celebrations has resulted in a variety of thrilling events for Swifties, including cities designating Swift the honorary mayor of the day and handing her the key to the city, as well as renaming stadiums, streets, and other landmarks.
Mayor Jerry Weiers of Glendale, Arizona, officially renamed the city to honor The Eras tour kickoff on March 17.
“And now therefore, I, Jerry P. Weiers, mayor of the city of Glendale, on behalf of our city council, do hereby proclaim that on March 17 and 18, 2023, the city of Glendale will be renamed Swift City,” he said in a ceremonial press conference to share the news before sneaking in a couple of lyrical references. “And all Swifties are encouraged to share their smiles that could light up this whole town on all the social media platforms because the best people in life are free.”
Arlington went all out to celebrate the three gigs at AT&T Stadium from March 31 to April 2, with a new street called “Taylor Swift Way” and a pet adoption frenzy. Swift was even given a key to the city.
The venue Swift performed in from April 21 to 23 will be dubbed “NRG Stadium (Taylor’s Version)” throughout the weekend, according to Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo. Banners with the temporary name were displayed at the stadium’s north and south entrances to add to the enjoyment.
“With the name change, I know it’ll never go out of style,” Hidalgo said in a video posted on social media. “Plus, your music appeals to people of all ages. I hope your visit exceeds your highest expectations, and for everyone in Harris County, let’s get ready!”
