Cannes regular Naomi Kawase and actor Geraldine Chaplin are set to star in Palme d’Or winning producer Luis Miñarro’s next directorial, “Impalpable.”
The movie will be produced under the banner of Barcelona-based Eddie Saeta, one of Spain’s most prominent arthouse shingles, reported Variety.

Written by Miñarro, his fifth feature “Impalpable” follows a series of characters who take a bus to an unspecified destination. The situation becomes gradually stranger as the bus makes no stops. Nor can the passengers descend.
”I first thought of this project before the pandemic. It’s a homage to Luis Buñuel’s ‘The Exterminating Angel,’” Miñarro said. The Exterminating Angel is a 1962 surrealist Spanish film about a dinner party from which the guests have no escape. Similar to it, ‘impalpable’ will be a fantasy drama with humour, and surrealistic and political touches, Miñarro said.

Geraldine Chaplin, the daughter of cinema icon Charlie Chaplin will play a role which will mix fictional and real-life aspects of her life. However, Kawase”s character will be entirely fictitious. The cast also includes Spanish actors Lola Duenas and Francesc Orella.
Stretched over three days and two nights, the film will follow a non-linear pattern unleashing what amounts to mini-movies via flashbacks or flash-forwards.
