The first trailer of Paul Thomas Anderson’s much awaited ninth
feature’s trailer has finally been released. Some rumours had suggested that
the film would be titled Soggy Bottom but you never know what to expect with Anderson
at the helm.

The fans have sky-high expectations for the director’s new
project which comes after “Phantom Thread”, a film which received six Oscar nominations.
Anderson wrote the script and produced the film along with Sara Murphy.

The trailer which had been released exclusively in cinemas
like the New Beverly Theatre has been released on the internet. It’s a story of
love and youth set in a bygone era.

It features Bradley Cooper as a Hollywood director, Benny
Safdie as a politician, Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman, the son of late Philip
Seymour Hoffman making his feature debut performing the role of a child actor.

Other cast members include Skyler Gisondo, Maya Rudolph and
Tom Waits among others. It never ceases to amaze the audience how Anderson
manages to put together a star-studded cast for every single movie of his.

Looking at the trailer it seems like the movie will take us
on an emotional roller coaster. It has everything from top notch humour, scenes
that get you teary eyed and leave a bittersweet taste in your mouth to the ones
that form a pit in your stomach.

Majority of the film was shot in Los Angeles between August –
November 2020. It is expected to be another hit from the mastermind behind Hard
Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch – Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood, The
Master, Inherent Vice and Phantom Thread.

Anderson returns to the San Fernando Valley, set in the
1970s. A sight familiar from his film Boogie Nights.

The film is slated for a limited release on November 26 and
set to expand nationwide on December 25. It is not expected to arrive on
streaming platforms anytime soon.
