Bryan Randall, Sandra Bullock‘s longtime partner, died over the weekend, according to a statement from his family provided to PEOPLE on Monday. He was 57 years old at the time of his death.
“It is with great sadness that we share that on Aug. 5, Bryan Randall passed away peacefully after a three-year battle with ALS,” his family shared. “Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.”

Sandra Bullock and Bryan Randall: Relationship Timeline
Bullock and Randall first spoke in January 2015 when he took pictures of Bullock’s son Louis’ birthday. A few months later, according to PEOPLE, they made things official. Us revealed in August of that year that Bullock had brought Randall as a guest to Aniston and Theroux’s wedding, thereby establishing their relationship.
Bullock and Randall made their red carpet debut as a couple in October 2015, months after they started dating. The couple also attended the Our Brand Is Crisis premiere in Los Angeles.
It was widely reported that Bullock and Randall got engaged in July 2016. At the time, her representative exclusively disclosed to PEOPLE that rumors linking the pair to engagement were completely false.

Sandra Bullock, Bryan Randall, and her kids went to Disneyland in February 2018. According to a witness, “They looked like a good, happy family.” Then, in September 2018, Bryan Randall paid respect to Sandra Bullock’s late father, World War II veteran John W. Bullock.
Sandra Bullock and Bryan Randall donated 6000 KN95 masks to healthcare professionals in April 2020, in response to the COVID outbreak. In November 2021, Sandra Bullock spoke about her relationship with Bryan Randall on Red Table Talk.
“I am someone who went through the divorce process. I found the love of my life. We share two beautiful children — three children, his older daughter. It’s the best thing ever,” she said. “I don’t wanna say do it like I do it, but I don’t need a paper to be a devoted partner and devoted mother.”
Unfortunately, Bryan Randall’s family announced his death on August 7, 2023, following a secret three-year fight with ALS.
His family said, “We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours. At this time we ask for privacy to grieve and to come to terms with the impossibility of saying goodbye to Bryan. His Loving Family.”
