Taapsee Pannu released a trailer for her upcoming film, Shabaash Mithu, a biopic on cricketer Mithali Raj. The teaser opens with Taapsee entering the arena as Mithali Raj as the audience cheers her on.
Taapsee Pannu, who shared the teaser, stated, “In this Gentlemen’s sport, she did not bother to rewrite history… Instead, she created HERSTORY.” She tagged her post with the hashtags #AbKhelBadlega, #BreakTheBias, and #ShabaashMithu. Mithali Raj also posted the preview on her Instagram account on Monday, with the same caption as Taapsee.

On Mithali Raj’s birthday in 2019, Taapsee Pannu declared her involvement with the project. She shared photos of herself with the cricketer and wrote: “Happy Birthday Captain. On this Birthday, I don’t know what gift I can give you but this promise that I shall give it all I have to make sure you will be proud of what you see of yourself on screen with Shabaash Mithu. PS_ I’m all prepared to learn the ‘cover drive’.”

Rahul Dholakia will direct the film, which will be produced by Viacom18 Studios.
Coming to the Women’s World Cup, Mithali Raj became the first woman to play in six World Cups. She declared her retirement from T20Is in 2019 to extend her ODI career and, more importantly, to compete in the showpiece event. This may be her swan song, and the 39-year-old will leave no stone left to end her illustrious career on a high note by capturing the prized trophy on April 3.
The batting prodigy is also the only female cricketer to have scored 7,000 runs in Women’s One Day Internationals and the only batter to have seven consecutive half-centuries in One Day Internationals. Aside from that, the Rajasthan-born batsman has many other batting records. They include having the most fifties in WODIs, becoming the first Indian player to score 2000 T20I runs, and being the first women’s cricketer to reach 2000 runs in the shortest format.

Meanwhile, another biopic based on the life of former Indian captain Jhulan Goswami, Chakda Xpress, is in the works, with Anushka Sharma in the lead. After the 2018 film Zero, this will be Anushka Sharma’s first project.
