Director Keith Gomes’ ‘Shameless’, Tushar Tyagi’s ‘Saving Chintu’ and Saurav Vishnu’s ‘Tailing Pond’ are three Indian films that are expected to get Oscar nomination, this year, in short films category, reports Variety.com. 

The Oscar shortlist is scheduled to be announced on February 9.

‘Shameless’ and ‘Saving Chintu’ are aiming for nominations in the live-action short category wherein Saurav Vishnu’s ‘Tailing Pond’ is hoping to get the nomination in the documentary short subject category.

The Keith Gomes directorial stars Sayani Gupta who was also part of Emmy-nominated Amazon series ‘Four More Shots Please’. The Sound design of the film is by Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ fame.

The film talks about a work-from-home software engineer who is trapped by a delivery girl. “The idea is global and relevant today, with the whole lockdown and work from home culture.Conversations and hugs have become likes and emojis, while being kind has become an act of greatness. Told through an Indian gaze, ‘Shameless’ is a reminder to find that connection and be kind to every person or being,” Gomes told Variety.com.

Finally, ‘Tailing Pond’ is narrated by Cynthia Nixon, who is back in the news of late because of the ‘Sex and the City’ . The film is an exposé of India’s nuclear program.
