Who is Cynthia Love?

Cynthia Love made a cameo in Kanye West’s 2003 music video Through the Wire, which was also directed by Simmons and Ozah. She claims she was paid only $20 for it, and alleges that she was in an “altered state and not capable of providing consent” when it happened. She is also disappointed that a longer version of that moment was featured in the jeen-yuhs documentary on Netflix.

In the lawsuit, she states that it represents a part of her history she wants to leave behind. She asserts that she has been sober for almost 18 years, maintained long-term employment and mended relationships with friends and family. She claims that the documentary exposed her troubled past to many who were unaware of her history, causing her to relive painful memories

Cynthia alleges that Coodie, through a text message, informed her son that he assumed she was deceased rather than attempting to contact her before the film’s premiere. She further claims that the release of the footage has caused her significant emotional distress and has had a detrimental impact on her reputation.

Although the mention of Coodie and Chike’s reported $30 million payment for the documentary may appear legally irrelevant to her case, it is included in her lawsuit. Cynthia is seeking damages of at least $30,000 from Coodie, Chike, and Netflix as a result of these alleged actions.
