South Korean boy band ATEEZ member Wooyoung’s grandfather died on Saturday. ATEEZ’s agency KQ Entertainment released the
official statement.
Who is Wooyoung?
Wooyoung is the dancer and vocalist of the South Korean boy
band ATEEZ. He was born on November 26, 1999, in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, South
Korea. His full name is Jung Woo Young.

Before KQ Entertainment, Wooyoung was signed to BigHit
Music, formerly called BigHit Entertainment, as a trainee circa 2014. At
BigHit, he met fellow band member, Yeosang. Before 2017, Yeosang left BigHit.
Later, Wooyoung also cut ties with BigHit and joined Yeosang in KQ.

Wooyoung graduated from Pungsan Middle School. He attended
Hanlim Multi Arts High School located in Songpa District in Seoul, South Korea.
He was in the same class with Golden Child’s Tag and Idol School’s Bin Haneul
during his Senior Year.

In October 2017, trainees from KQ Entertainment auditioned
for the survival reality show MIXNINE. Wooyoung was one of the four boys that
cleared the audition. He was ranked 57th in the MIXNINE Just Dance showcase but
was eliminated in episode seven. His final ranking number was 132.

Before making his debut, Wooyoung was introduced as a
member of “KQ Fellaz”, which is a pre-debut team of trainees under KQ. On
October 24, 2018, he started his career as a member of ATEEZ with the title
tracks “Treasure” and “Pirate King”. In the group, he holds the performance and
vocal positions.
