Zendaya created history by becoming the youngest Black woman to win the Emmy for outstanding lead actress in a drama series twice.
In 2020, Zendaya won her 1st Emmy as best actress in a drama series at the age of 24 and in 2022 she again beat the competition to win the second Emmy award for Lead Actress in a Drama series.
Zendaya came up on the stage and thanked the cast and crew of Euphoria. She said, “This means so much. Thank you so much. To all the incredible actors in this category, I’m so honored to be beside you. Thank you to the incredible, incredible cast. Thank you for making such a safe space to make this very difficult show. I love you all so much.”

Who is Zendaya?
Zendaya Coleman was born on September 1, 1996, in Oakland, California. She was the youngest among the five siblings and attended Fruitvale Elementary School. From her very childhood, she used to perform at the nearby California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, California and was also a member of a Hip Hop dance troupe called Future Shock Oakland.
At the age of 11, she started doing theater and performed various roles like Little Ti Moune in Once on This Island, Lady Anne in Richard III, Celia in As You Like It and many others.
In 2015, Zendaya graduated from Oak Park High School while pursuing an acting career.
Zendaya’s Acting Career
She started her career as a model and featured for brands like Macy’s, Mervyns, and Old Navy. She also featured in an iCarly toys commercial. In 2009, she featured for the first time in the Kidz Bop music video for its cover of the song Hot n Cold by Katy Perry.
She earned international recognition after playing the role of Rocky Blue in the American TV series Shake It Up. The series created history by becoming Disney Channel’s second highest-rated program and garnering about 6.2 million views.

In 2012 she started acting in films and her first film role was in Frenemies which was a Disney Channel Original Movie.
Apart from acting in films and Tv series Zendaya also released her independent single Swag It Out in 2011. She then starred in the book trailer From Bad To Cursed by Katie Alender.
In February 2022, Zendaya announced that she is all set to star and produce Challengers, a sports drama directed by Luca Guadagnino. The upcoming film is scheduled to be released on August 11, 2023, and she will also be seen in Dune: Part 2 which will be released on November 17, 2023.
Zendaya was also the brand ambassador and celebrity endorser of companies like Beats Electronics, X-Out, Material Girl, CoverGirl and Chi Hair Care.
Apart from acting, she is also involved in philanthropy and various charitable activities. She became an ambassador for Convoy of Hope and encouraged people to support Hurricane Sandy’s response efforts. She served as the spokesperson for UNICEF’s Trick-or-Treat 2014 campaign. In 2014, she celebrated her 18th birthday by feeding 150 hungry children in Haiti, Tanzania and the Philippines through the feedONE campaign.
Other than Emmy’s she is also the recipient of the CFDA Fashion Icon Award, BET Awards for Best actress, MTV Movie and TV awards for Best performance.
