Actors Will Smith and Kevin Hart are set to star in star in and produce a remake of the 1987 road comedy “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” for Paramount Pictures, reported Variety.
Directed by John Hughes, the original film starred Steve Martin and the late John Candy as a pair of mismatched businessmen trying to get home to Chicago for Thanksgiving in the face of several travel disasters.
Th remake will be a modern update of the original, where the actors will join forces to overcome obstacles on their way back to their loved ones.
Smith’s Westbrook Studios and Hart’s HartBeat Productions will produce the film while ‘Brooklyn 99’ fame Aeysha Carr will write the screenplay, marking her feature writing debut. She most recently executive produced the upcoming Hulu series “Woke,” starring Lamorne Morris and Sasheer Zamata, which is set to air in September.
While Smith was last seen in ‘Bad Boys for Life’, Hart’s last appearance was in ‘Jumanji: The Next Level’. Smith will be next seen in ‘King Richard’ where he stars as the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams.
