Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that not just the government and its machinery but 130 crores Indians are fighting the battle against COVID-19 under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi.
While speaking at a Tamil Nadu government function, Shah said the country rallied behind Modi to fight against the coronavirus pandemic, and India is doing better than several developed countries.
“The world and country are fighting against COVID-19. The country has successfully faced it under PM Modi. On a comparative note, India has fared better than many developed countries,” Shah said.
Shah’s address came after the deputy chief minister of Tamil Nadu, O Panneerselvam said that the AIADMK will continue its alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party for the 2021 state assembly elections.
The Union Home Minister, while patting the TN government over its handling of the COVID-19 situation, said the Palaniswami-Panneerselvam’s leadership duly implemented the various instructions of the Centre on the matter.
Shah said the Modi government has announced to establish defence industrial corridor projects in only two states of the country and Tamil Nadu is one of them.
Taking a dig at the Opposition, the Union Home Minister said, “Sometimes I heard DMK leaders speaking of injustice done to Tamil Nadu. The DMK and the Congress were at the Centre for 10 years. We are ready for a debate on whether Tamil Nadu got more help in those 10 years or during the tenure of our government.”
He said that the schemes and funds provided to Tamil Nadu by the central government are not meant for help but it is the right of the state that were not being given to it.
