Rock band Foo Fighters performed their 2002 hit ‘Times Like These’ on ‘Celebrating America,’ the 90-minute show that capped US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ inauguration events on Wednesday.
The band’s frontman Dave Grohl dedicated the performance to “unshakable teachers” who have continued to enlighted the nations youth.
Before the performance, Grohl remembered his kindergaten teacher, Mackenzie, as well as his mother, Virginia.

He said, “Mackenzie Adams reminds me of another outstanding teacher who holds a very special place in my heart. My mother, Virginia, who was a public school teacher for 35 years.”
He added, “Like Mackenzie, and Dr. Jill Biden, she was also a mentor to her students, remembered long after their graduation.”
Grohl talked about the challenges faced by the teachers this year, and dedicated the hit song to them.
He said, “This year, our teachers were faced with unprecedented challenges. But through dedication and creativity, they faced those challenges head on. So this next song is for Mackenzie and all of the unshakable teachers that continue to enlighten our nation’s kids every day.”
Hosted by actor Tom Hanks, Celebrating America highlighted, “American heroes who are helping their fellow Americans through this crisis, including frontline workers, health care workers, teachers, citizens giving back, and those who are breaking barriers.”
Along with the Foo Fighters, artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Bruce Springsteen, John Legend and Demi Lovato gave performances.
