India on Monday recorded 1,27,510 new COVID-19 cases, pushing the tally to 2,81,75,044, the Union Health Ministry’s data released on Tuesday showed. As many as 2,795 patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the total death toll to 331,895.
There are 18,95,520 active cases in the country at the moment.

On Monday, a total of 255,287 people recovered across the country, which led to the number of recoveries to 25,947,629.
As many as yy samples have been tested for the novel coronavirus till May 31, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said. This includes yyy samples tested on Monday.
India started its mass vaccination drive against coronavirus on January 16. As per the latest count on Tuesday, a total of 216,046,638 people have received at least the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 27,80,058 people who were vaccinated in the last 24 hours across India.

The country is battling a second wave of coronavirus since April. Hundreds of thousands of cases have been reported in a day, thousands died and the health system was brought to a crippling point.
