The Delhi Traffic Police on Thursday closed several borders as farmers continued agitation against the Centre’s three contentious farm laws. “The Ghazipur border is closed for traffic due to farmer protests,” the Delhi Traffic Police tweeted.
The police told commuters to take alternative route via Maharajpur, Chilla, DND, Apsara, Bhopra and Loni borders.
Among the borders that have been closed are Singhu, Tikri, Piau Maniyari, Saboli, Auchandi, Harewali, Mangesh, Jharoda and Dhansa.
The police have shared alternative routes on its Twitter handle.
Traffic movement was also closed on Raisina Road.
The Delhi Police had beefed up security following farmers’ Republic Day tractor rally that turned violent. Barricading was enhanced, nails and spikes were placed to restrict the movement of the protesters.
Thousands of farmers are protesting since November 26 against the Centre’s three farm laws that were enacted in September during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
