The Republic Day tractor rally saw a tragic turn of events as violent
clashes erupted in various parts of the national capital and NCR between the
farmers and the Delhi Police.
The law and order situation torpedoed in Delhi’s ITO, Red Fort, and
Nangloi, among other regions, prompting the police officials to use tear gas and
lathicharge the farmers.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Sambit Patra reacted on the
tractor rally that went downhill due to unforeseen conflicts.
“Those we had been calling ‘annadata’ for so many days have turned out
to be extremists,” Patra said.
Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi condemned the violence that shook parts
of Delhi and urged the Centre to repeal the three farm laws.
“Violence is not a solution to any problem. No matter who gets hurt, our
country will suffer,” the Congress tweeted.

A farmer, who was a part of the tractor rally parade, lost his life at
Delhi’s ITO after his tractor overturned during the parade, a police official
confirmed. The farmers draped the body in tricolour, and did
not allow the police to send it for post-mortem.
After hours of chaos, the protesting farmers traced their journey back
to their protesting sites at the Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur borders.
