Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national
general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya has
confirmed that the party’s CM candidate will be decided only once they secure
majority in the state in this year’s assembly elections.
“No chief ministerial face
will be projected in (West Bengal Assembly elections). After securing the
majority, the party leadership and the MLAs will decide who will become the
chief minister,” he said, as per an ANI reported.

This announcement comes a day after Vijayvargiya
slammed Mamata Banerjee’s government of
indulging in “politics of violence.”
“Mamata
Banerjee’s government and ‘politics of violence’ are synonymous. Bengal’s image
is being maligned. Every day, BJP workers are attacked by TMC goons, while the
police play the role of bystanders. It is the most unfortunate facet of the
state,” he said, ANI reported.
The assembly elections for 294 seats of the West Bengal Legislative
Assembly are scheduled to be held later this year.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress supremo recently announced that she would
contest the election from her former aide Suvendu Adhikari’s turf, Nandigram.
Shiv Sena also announced that the party will be contesting the West Bengal Assembly elections.
