In what is being seen as a big blow for the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) ahead of the Bihar Assembly election, senior party leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh quit the party on Thursday. Singh is currently admitted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, news agency ANI reported.

Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, considered close to RJD president Lalu Prasad Yadav, was said to be miffed with the way the party was being run in the absence of Lalu. He had stepped down from the post of RJD’s national vice-president in June.

The 75-year-old leader had reportedly raised questions over the likely induction of former Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Rama Kishore Singh in the RJD. However, his joining was put on hold after Raghuvansh’s objection.

Rama Singh had met both Lalu and Tejashwi Yadav in June triggering talks of him joinin the RJD. Soon after the meeting, Raghuvansh had shot off his resignation from the top party post.

Both Raghuvansh and Rama Singh are Rajputs and enjoy a decent influence over the community.
