From BJP to Shiv Sena and from DMK to YSRCP, 23 lawmakers tested positive for COVID-19 on the first day of Parliament’s monsoon session on Monday. The lawmakers were required to take a COVID-19 test and clear it in order to attend the session held amid strict coronavirus protocol.

The reports of the MPs came on the day India recorded a total of 4.85 million coronavirus cases with 79,754 deaths. Among the politicians who have tested positive and recovered are Home Minister Amit Shah, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddiyurappa and Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
