As the farmers’ protest entered its 23rd day on Friday, here are the main events that took place in the course of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ demonstration against the three newly-enacted farm laws.
On November 27, 2020, farmer unions from different states began their protest in which tens of thousands of farmers marched towards the nation’s capital.
As the daily lives disrupted and Opposition started supporting the protest, Centre held talks with the agitating farmers but failed to reach a conclusion for the fifth time on December 5.

Since then, the Singhu (Delhi-Haryana) border became a hotspot where farmers have been camping.
Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh openly came in support of the farmers and went to address them at the border. He reportedly donated Rs 1 crore for warm clothes for the farmers.
Dosanjh also recently took a dig at those who criticised farmers for having pizza at Singhu border. Last week, around 400 pizzas were distributed at the ‘pizza langar’ to the protestors.
In the last few days, the protest sites have witnessed one of the most beautiful manifestations of humanity in the form of aide extended by various groups and individuals.

Tearing up copies of the recently-passed farm laws, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday urged the Centre not to become ‘worse than Britishers’.
For over 20 days, the farmers have kept themselves busy by reading books. For many, it is a newfound hobby, one that they never indulged in before.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday announced that it would be forming a panel to break the three-week-long deadlock. But the move has been dismissed by farm leaders as no solution. Protesting farmer unions said constituting a new panel to break the stalemate on the three new farm laws is not a solution as they want a complete withdrawal of the legislation.
