The Russo Brothers revealed that the character ‘Avik San’ popular as Lone Wolf played by Dhanush in the Netflix film The Gray Man will return in its prequel. 

The Russo brothers recently visited Mumbai for the promotion of The Gray Man ahead of its release. 

Joe and Anthony Russo were candid about their film in a press conference in Mumbai. They talked about international assassins and how Dhanush’s character turned out to be a killer with a moral code. “It’s based on a book series, so there is the opportunity to expand this into future movies. We love to keep going with the world because we love all the characters. But we need the audience to tell us whether they want to see more of the story or not. If we do continue forward with the story, I can guarantee you that Dhanush’s character will be part of that world moving forward,” Joe Russo said.

Anthony Russo added saying, “I keep getting texts from people I know and they just say ‘more Dhanush’ in the texts.”

Dhanush on being asked what would it take for him to return to The Gray Man franchise replied, “A phone call.” He also added, “It will be great to work with Ryan Gosling again, he’s a fantastic human being. He is very kind, very sweet, very welcoming, and he made me feel very, very comfortable on sets. And we have amazing mutual respect for each other. And it will be really, really great to work with him. Regardless of whether we’re fighting or not fighting with each other.”

The film has already been released on Netflix on July 22. Russo Brothers had specifically written this character for Dhanush as they were fans of his works and wanted to see him in this action role. With Dhanush acting in a Hollywood production, this marks a welcome shift for international actors especially from Asian countries being part of American films. The Russo Brothers Netflix film Extraction was shot in India and they have plans to work in this country again.
