Divita Rai is representing India in the 71st Miss Universe pageant being held in New Orleans, Los Angeles on Saturday, January 14. Rai participated in the 70th Miss Universe as well but lost the crown to fellow Indian model Harnaz Sandhu. 

Rai spent her childhood in different Indian cities. Her father, Dilip Rai, is a government employee with a transferable job and as a result, the model had to move cities frequently while growing up.

Her mother, Pravita Rai, is a homemaker and kept the household in order while her husband was the sole breadwinner. She is also a support system for the 24-year-old model as she participates in beauty pageants around the world and also in the country.

On August 28, 2022, in Mumbai, Divita was crowned Miss Universe India by Harnaaz Sandhu, the outgoing Miss Universe India and Miss Universe 2021. S

She was placed among the top three Karnataka finalists competing to advance to Femina Miss India 2019.

She participated in Miss Diva 2021 in 2021 and came in second place to Harnaaz Sandhu, Miss Universe 2021. Throughout the competition, she also took home the titles of Miss IQ, Miss Lifestyle, and Miss Sudoku.

Rai is among the favorites to win the Miss Universe 2022 title this year. She will be competing against 85 contestants from different countries and having finished second last year, she is well aware of what it takes to come close to winning the title.
