Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar on Wednesday said that the Cabinet has taken the decision to help farmers by depositing subsidy into their bank accounts, reported ANI.
Farmers will get subsidy on 60 lakh tonnes of sugar exports at the rate of Rs 6,000 per tonne. According to Javadekar, the decision will help 5 crore farmers and 5 lakh workers in various sugar mills.
Javadekar made the announcement during a press briefing on Cabinet decisions, at National Media Centre in New Delhi on Wednesday.
According to Javadekar, farmers will get three credits. He said, “Within 1 week farmers will get Rs 5,361 crore, Rs 18,000 crore of export running to be credited to their accounts to the extent of their dues, and Rs 3,500 crore the subsidy decided today.”
