Jay Chaudhry, an Indian-American entrepreneur and the CEO/founder of the cloud security business Zscaler, is the tenth richest Indian, as per a report by IIFL-Hurun India’s top 10 rich list.

Rising demand for business cyber security services, along with increased corporate ransomware cyberattacks, resulted in an 85 percent increase in Chaudhry’s fortune, propelling him into the top ten of the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich list 2021.

Jay Chaudhry has made it to the Hurun rich list for the first time, which is topped by Mukesh Ambani chairman of Reliance Industries for the tenth consecutive year. This is the tenth annual list of India’s richest people. The wealth estimates are current as of September 15th, 2021.

The Himachal Pradesh-born IIT alumnus Jay Chaudhry established the cyber security business Zscaler in 2007 and presently controls 42 percent of the Nasdaq-listed firm with a market valuation of 2.81 lakh crore.

Apart from the IITian entrepreneur, there are several newcomers to the top ten richest persons on the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2021. Steel magnates Lakshmi Mittal, 71, of ArcelorMittal, and Kumar Mangalam Birla, 54, of Aditya Birla, are ranked 5th and 9th on the list, respectively. It should be mentioned that both Adani brothers are listed in the top 10 IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich list 2021 for the first time this year.

There were 894 people who saw their wealth rise or remain the same, including 229 newcomers, 113 people who saw their wealth fall, and 51 dropouts. According to the report, India has 237 billionaires, up 58 from the previous year.

While the Chemicals and Software industries gained the most new entries to the list, Pharma remains the top contributor with 130 new recruits. The youngest person on the list is 23, three years younger than the youngest person last year.
