World Heritage Day or International Day for Monuments and Sites is celebrated on April 18 every year to observe the importance of cultural heritage across the world. This year, the theme is “Complex Pasts: Diverse Futures”, which appreciates the diversity of our heritage and aims to give the message of solidarity. 

According to the United Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), there are a total of 1,121 world heritage sites worldwide, of which 38 are in India. These 38 sites include 30 cultural properties, seven natural ones and one mixed site.
