Senior journalist Sunil Jain, Managing Editor of Financial Express, passed away on Saturday at the age of 58 due to COVID-19 related complications at AIIMS.
Following his demise, Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted: “You left us too soon, Sunil Jain. I will miss reading your columns and hearing your frank as well as insightful views on diverse matters. You leave behind an inspiring range of work. Journalism is poorer today, with your sad demise. Condolences to family and friends. Om Shanti.”

Prior to Financial Express, Jain was Senior Associate Editor at Business Standard where he also looked after its opinion pages.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah too took to social media to mourn the senior journalist’s death. Shah said, “His (Sunil Jain) passing away is an irreparable loss to the world of journalism.”
Other ministers too followed the Home Minister and Prime Minister in delivering their condolences. Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways, wrote: “He was an inspiration & somebody who inspired generation of journalists.”

Meanwhile, Minister of Road Transport Nitin Gadkari and Minister of MSME Pratap Sarangi too tweeted about Jain’s demise.
The first information of Jain’s death was made public by his sister Sandhya Jain on Twitter, who wrote: “We lost my brother Sunil Jain this evening to Covid+its complications. Doctors+staff at AIIMS battled heroically, but the demon was too powerful.”
