The Union government opened the registration process for the general public visit of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur in Pakistan via the Kartarpur corridor between India and Pakistan. After being closed down in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the corridor was opened on Wednesday.

Here is a list of things one would need to visit the Gurdwara.

Which websites does the registration for Kartarpur Sahib visitors?

All persons travelling to Kartarpur must register on http://www.prakashpurb550.mha.gov.in. You’ll have to fill in your personal details and apply online.

How does the registration process work?

During the registration, you will be asked if you are an Indian citizen or an Overseas Citizen Of India (OCI) card holder. Once selected, you’ll be offered dates, according to availability. As of today, there are no slots available for November 19, which is the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

Part A will have all your personal details. Once filled, the date of the journey will be displayed prominently on the next page. You’ll also be assigned a temporary file number.

Part B of the application will ask you for your country of residence. Revealing Aadhaar Number and PAN Card details are optional. The present address is asked for.

The nearest police station along with your blood group has to be mentioned. Landline numbers for home and office are optional, but the mobile number has to be submitted.

The form will also ask if you have relatives residing in Pakistan or not.

Part C of the form will ask you to divulge information about your character. Whether if any criminal case has been registered against the applicant or not.

Part D involves a declaration and undertaking by the applicant.

Finally, a photograph, between the size of 10kb to 300 kb has to be uploaded. Once done, keep a printout of your form handy. The applicant will also get an SMS with his temporary file number.

What other instructions does one need to follow?

Applicants who are granted permission will be given an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). A copy of this has to be brought to the Dera Baba Nanak immigration check post on the day of travel.

Pakistan charges a $20 fee for visitors to Kartarpur Sahib.

Is a COVID-19 test required?

As per the guidelines issued by the Pakistan government, all visitors must have a negative COVID RT-PCR report. They should not be older than 72 hours.

Will the passport be stamped by immigration authorities?

No. However, an entry permit will be given at the Indian side of the border. On crossing over, the permit has to be provided to authorities in Pakistan.
