Union Minister Smriti Irani announced the engagement of her daughter Shanelle Irani, with a fair bit of warning for her to-be son-in-law Arjun Bhalla. Shanelle and Arjun’s engagement took place at a picturesque desert location, with the Union Minister sharing a peek on her social media.
In the pictures posted on Smriti Irani’s Instagram handle, Arjun can be seen bent down on one knee, proposing to Shanelle, who is seen wearing a striped button-up dress. In the next photo, the duo is seen smiling, with Shanelle’s engagement ring resting on her hand.
The Instagram post has amassed more than 50,000 likes and hundreds of comments. Many from the film fraternity congratulated the couple, including fashion stylist Anita Shroff Adajania, director Ekta Kapoor, actor Mouni Roy, and more.

In the caption of the post, actor-turned politician Smriti Irani warned her soon-to-be son-in-law Arjun about her “mad” family, who has a “crazy man” for a father-in-law, and even worse, a mother-in-law like her. The actor-turned minister then concluded the hilarious post with blessings for the newly engaged couple.
Shanelle Irani is the daughter of Zubin Irani and his former wife, Mona Irani. Soon after their split in the year 2001, Zubin married Smriti Irani, who was a popular television actor at the time. The two then had two children, Zohr and Zoish, who turned 20 and 18 this year, respectively.
Smriti Irani often shares pictures of her family and kids on Instagram. The 45-year-old Union Minister also shares witty quotes and memes with her 1.1 million followers.
Shanelle’s engagement has left her step mother elated. Other than her stepdaughter getting engaged, the Union Minister also celebrated her book debut just last week. She authored ‘Lal Salaam’, a novel based on CRPF officers and their tragic deaths in the 2010 Dantewada massacre.
