On Wednesday, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) will probe Prabhakar Sail, a witness in the drugs-on-cruise case, for claims of corruption levelled against NCB witness Kiran Gosavi and Sameer Wankhede, the case’s zonal officer. “Mumbai NCB has summoned Prabhakar Sail, a witness in the drugs on cruise case, for questioning tomorrow. He will be questioned by NCB team reaching Mumbai from Delhi tomorrow, in connection with his allegations of corruption,” the NCB said on Tuesday.
Sail is Gosavi’s personal bodyguard. After the attack on the cruise liner, he claims Gosavi took Rs 50 lakh from an individual.. He said, “I worked as a bodyguard of Kiran Gosavi. I assisted him during the Mumbai cruise drugs case.” However, the NCB named Sail as a “hostile witness” in its affidavit in the court.
On Tuesday, Sail stated that he stood by his extortion demand claim against Wankhede and others, adding that no one had instructed him. The accusation has already been refuted by Wankhede. Sail showed reporters in Mumbai several text messages on his phone in which Gosavi allegedly ordered him to collect extortion money from Haji Ali. “I have narrated everything chronologically and nothing is made-up. Nobody is asking me to speak about this issue,” Sail said.
In connection with the drugs-on-cruise case, a charge was filed against Gosavi, the man who was spotted accosting Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan at the NCB office on October 18.
On October 2, a team from the NCB busted an alleged narcotics party on the Cordelia Cruise ship, which was on its route to Goa at the time. So far, 20 persons have been arrested in the investigation, including Aryan Khan.
The Bombay high court scheduled to resume hearing of the bail plea of Aryan Khan in connection with seizure of drugs on a cruise ship on Wednesday. The hearing will resume at 2:30 pm today.
