A caregiver from Kerala, working in Israel’s Ashkelon city, was killed in a Hamas rocket attack while she was on a video call with her husband back home. Soumya, 31, hailed from Kanjikuzhy panchayat in Kerala’s Idukki district and had been working in Israel for the past 10 years.

“Santhosh (Soumya’s husband) heard his wife screaming all of a sudden while she was speaking. There was loud noise and the call got disconnected,” said panchayat member Tinsy Thomas, as reported by indianexpress.com.

One of Soumya’s relatives, working in the same city, was later informed about her death. Soumya, who last visited Kerala three years ago, was planning to return in two months, the website added.

An elderly woman, who Soumya was taking care of, was also killed  in the attack. The rocket struck their house as they were preparing to shift to a bunker. Before shifting she called her husband to inform her about the situation there when a rocket struck the house, reports onmanorama.com.
