Facing criticism for using an abusive slur against Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut, on Monday, said, “His party never insulted women.”
The response comes a day after Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut called his mindset as “anti-women.”
Raut has indirectly slammed the actress, saying that she has insulted Mumbai and the deity Mumba Devi.
In a Twitter post, the Shiv Sena spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP said that his remarks on Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has been taken as an insult by “some with malicious intent.”
Raut and Shiv Sena both faced heavy criticism after he addressed Kangana Ranaut with an abusive comment. Notably, he used unparliamentary language for a fellow citizen. The remark came after Ranaut compared Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK).
In his tweet, Raut has also said that his party “follows the ideology of great icons Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the great Maharana Pratap. They have also taught us to respect women.”
However, slamming the Bollywood actress again for not apologising, Raut wrote, “One should not forget the fact that those making these allegations have themselves insulted Mumbai and our deity Mumba Devi.”
“Shiv Sena will continue to fight for the pride of women, this is what our great Shiv Sena Supremo has taught us…” said Raut.
The Shiv Sena spokesperson has allegedly threatened Ranaut to not return to Mumbai. Ranaut, who has now been given Y-Category security by the government, has challenged the MP to stop her from entering Mumbai.
