Narcotics Cantrol Bureau on Tuesday
arrested actor Rhea Chakraborty over drug charges in connection with
the death case of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The anti-drug probe bureau has,
however, not found any illegal material in her possession and this development
has divided the nation including Bollywood . While some called it a separate
case of drug charges in which Rhea was found guilt, there were others who
thanked the judiciary for giving justice to the late soul.
While speaking to Opoyi, Vikas Singh,
lawyer of Sushant Singh Rajput’s family, said that this aspect will definitely
be looked into by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while investigating
“The drugs case was unearthed only because
of the complaint made by the father of late Sushant Singh Rajput. The chats
related to drugs disclose that Rhea was giving drugs to Sushant clandestinely
without his knowledge. Rhea has herself admitted that she gave drugs to
Sushant. Before the NCB she has obviously not confessed that she gave the drugs
to Sushant without his knowledge and consent,” the lawyer told Opoyi.
“As far as the NCB is concerned, Rhea is
culpable because she is part of the syndicate for supply of drugs and the NCB
case accordingly is continuing on that basis. In the CBI investigation, this
aspect will be looked into as to whether drugs were given to Sushant without
his consent or with his consent,” he added.
Sushant’s death case is currently being
probed by three agencies, the NCB, CBI and ED. The 34-year-old actor was found dead
at his Mumbai flat on June 14. Later, his father KK Singh filed an FIR
in Patna, blaming Rhea Chakraborty, late actor’s girlfriend, for his death and named her as
the main accused.
“The
charge of abetting the actor’s death is being investigated by CBI which
investigation is still continuing. That part of the allegation is not being
looked at by NCB,” said Singh when asked that what is happening on
charges against her for abetting the actor to death now that she has been
arrested by NCB.
He also said that Sushant’s family is not
concerned with NCB case.
“We are not concerned at moment with the
NCB case and accordingly we have not attended the bail application hearing
filed by Rhea against the NCB arrest. Our role will start only after CBI or the
ED takes definitive action,” he said.
A
special court in Mumbai is likely to pass an order on Friday on the bail pleas
of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik, arrested in connection with a drugs
case linked to the actor’s death.
Also, there have been lot of talks about
Sushant’s mental health, with many saying that his family is not ready to
accept the fact that their son was dealing with depression.
Reacting to the same, Singh said, “Sushant
had an illustrious career both in television and Bollywood. Sushant had no
mental issues till he came in contact with Rhea. Notwithstanding the fact that
he had a sleep related problem in the year 2013 which got cured within a few
months. From 2013 to 2019 he had no mental issue and his mental issues started
only after he came in touch with Rhea.”
“The
road to justice is long and arduous,” he said, adding that “We have
taken a small step in that direction. The family is hoping that CBI will
conclude the investigation soon and unravel the mystery behind the death of
Sushant.”
