Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is known to sport colourful turbans on special occasions, was wearing a Jamnagar ‘pagdhi’ on Tuesday, the 72nd Republic Day of India.
The Prime Minister arrived to pay tributes at the War memorial sporting a red printed turban, cream kurta, churidar, grey waistcoat and a shawl. The first such ‘paghdi’ was gifted to the PM by the royal family of Jamnagar, Gujarat, reports ANI.

At the 74th Independence Day in 2020, the 70-year-old Prime Minister was seen in an orange and yellow safa (Rajasthani headgear) with a long trail. He had paired it with a white and orange stole.

Earlier, he has been seen sporting a leheriya turban, an embroidered one and a Jodhpuri variant among others.
India is celebrating its 72nd Republic Day, which has been curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson was initially supposed to be the chief guest at the parade, but due to the grim COVID situation in his country, the trip was called off.
ThIs year’s parade will feature 32 tableaus and a contingent from Bangladesh will lead the parade. Fighter Rafale jets will also make the Republic Day debut this year.
