Torrential rain has affected normal life in Maharashtra. There is flood-like situation in many part of the state, including Jalgaon district. A video shared by news agency ANI shows houses and roads submerged in the district. The incessant rains caused extensive waterlogging in several areas of the district. Several vehicles can be seen stuck under debris flow caused by heavy rainfall.

One person has been killed and one seriously injured in Chalisgaon village of Jalgaon district on Tuesday. Nearly 10-15 people have been washed away in the floods. The administration estimated that around 700-800 animals have died due to the floods.

Bhagwat Patil, Traffic Incharge, said the rain caused cracks in many places in Kannad, Chalisgaon district. Jalgaon Ghat has also collapsed. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Maharashtra is very likely to experience an active rainfall spell during the next 4-5 days.

Meanwhile, many areas in Kannad taluka of Maharashtra’s Aurangabad district are inundated. A landslide blocked the Autram ghat bordering Aurangabad and Jalgaon districts.

Aurangabad collector Sunil Chavan told PTI farms in Bhildari village were severely damaged in the rain.

Out of eight circles in Kannad taluka, seven have received excess rainfall of over 65 mm in the last 24 hours, an official had said earlier in the day.

Crops losses have been reported at Naagad and Saygavhan villages, while rainwater entered houses in Pishor circle, he said.

Meanwhile, a truck transporting cattle fell to nearly 100 feet in the Autram Ghat, under the jurisdiction of Chalisgaon rural police station.

“The truck transporting buffaloes fell nearly 100 feet from the road. A search is on for the truck driver,” inspector K K Patil from Jalgaon police had said.
