Lucknow: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will on Tuesday release Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) manifesto for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections 2022. BJP’s UP election 2022 manifesto, titled the Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra was slated to be released earlier. However, the event was postponed in light of the demise of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday.

“The Union Minister for Home and Cooperation, Amit Shah will release the BJP’s ‘Lok Kalyan Sankalp Patra’ on February 8, 2022, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh,” BJP said in a statement.

According to a report by news agency ANI citing sources, the BJP manifesto for Uttar Pradesh elections 2022 will be focused on nationalism, development, development of holy cities such as Kashi and Mathura, and good governance.
Earlier on Monday, while addressing a virtual rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Samajwadi Party (SP)- Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) governments in the state for supporting the mafia raj.

The Prime Minister said that during the BJP government under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state was made safer for women. He also stressed the BJP’s double-engine growth model for Uttar Pradesh. Both these aspects may figure in the BJP election manifesto.
Uttar Pradesh goes to the polls in seven phases starting February 10. The polls will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, and March 3 and 7. Counting of votes for the 403 seater Assembly will take place on March 10.

In the 2017 Assembly elections, the BJP had come to power with a landslide victory, winning as many as 312 seats. While SP managed a distant second position with 47 seats, BSP bagged 19 seats and the Congress had to settle for just seven seats.
