The ongoing disengagement process in Ladakh between
India and China was highlighted in a video posted by news agency ANI on Thursday. In the video, Indian and Chinese soldiers can be seen signing documents and shaking hands as the process continued in the Ladakh
region. The disengagement was initiated with a meeting
between the two sides, with further visuals of tanks leaving the area.

Two subsequent PLA tanks are seen leaving the area,
after which an Indian tank vacates the place, followed by yet another Chinese
tank.

On Thursday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh,
while briefing the Rajya Sabha on the border issue with China along the LAC
(Line of Actual Control), said that on a diplomatic level it has been settled
and three points would be followed by both sides: that no side,
unilaterally, would be pushing to change the currently existing status quo;
that both sides would adhere to the LAC and respect it; and lastly that both
sides would be following the agreements made by the two sides.

 The tussle at
the border across LAC in Eastern Ladakh has been ongoing since June 2020, with
incidents such as physical clashes between the two sides emerging in between at
times.

The official announcement of disengagement in the Pangong
lake area came on Wednesday , as the Defence Minister informed that China
would be keeping it troops to the east of Finger 8, whereas India would be keeping
its soldiers at its permanent base near Finger 3.
