India have locked horns with Australia in the third T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. The series is levelled at 1-1. In the eighth over of the match, Rohit Sharma was seen kissing the helmet of wicket keeper Dinesh Kartik after an Axar Patel direct hit led to Australian batter Glen Maxwell’s run out

Earlier in the game, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to field first. Bhuvneshwar Kumar replaced Rishabh Pant in India, and Josh Inglis was substituted for Sean Abbott in Australia.
Following Aaron Finch’s early dismissal, Cameron Green gave Australia a strong start with his 21-ball 52, which included 7 fours and 3 sixes. However, Indian bowlers took over and effectively dominated the game as Steve Smith was out for 9.

This incident happened when Glen Maxwell was run out for 6 runs. Yuzvendra Chahal’s short ball was hit to short fine-leg by Maxwell on the fourth delivery of the eighth over, setting him up for a single. Maxwell who had hesitated for a bit, finally attempted to return to the crease, but Akshar Patel pounced on the ball more quickly than the Aussie expected.

Everyone appealed when Axar Patel struck the stumps directly. However, initial replays appeared to show that Karthik’s gloves, which were in front of the stumps, had moved the bails before the ball got to the stumps, which effectively meant that Maxwell was not out.
However, the third umpire chose to view the situation from a different angle, which revealed that only one bail was actually released when the ball struck the stumps and Maxwell was given run out.

Rohit Sharma smiled as he looked at the replays on the big screen, and before the decision was made, he rushed to Dinesh Karthik and kissed him on the helmet.
This comes after some pictures went viral where Rohit Sharma is seen to be grabbing the wicketkeeper’s neck in the first T20I. The skipper later clarified that it was ‘fun banter’.
Chasing 187 runs, India were 91 after 10 overs.
